Fiat demonstrates (for us prudes) how to sell cars, the Italian way

Italians are nothing if not imbued with salaciousness. At the Los Angeles Auto Show last week, Fiat leapt upon this fact with a seemingly undiscovered gusto, like a high-school kid who just had his first beer and is—as we speak—rushing to his friends to tell them all about it. EyesOn Design Awards 2014 presented in Detroit

The winners of the EyesOn Design Awards have been announced in COBO Hall at the end of the second press day of the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. More than 30 competition judges, who are active or retired heads of design at automotive manufacturers and chairs of transportation design education programs, declared the Ford Mustang the ‘Best Production Car'. The 2015 model, relaunched in time for the model's upcoming 50-year anniversary, is instantly recognizable as a Mustang, retaining similar proportions to the outgoing model but with a more sculpted and sophisticated silhouette.

Lotus lusts after Lutz?

Lotus seem to be pursuing Bob Lutz The Lotus five year plan calls for the track day cars to make way for much more substantial and upmarket cars to become the force at Lotus; a move to become the Aston Martin East Anglia. Probably the first obvious move in this plan was to grab Dany Bahar from Ferrari last year (and Ferrari designer Donato Coco) and now Lotus are casting their net again to snare some big names to drive them forward. Top of the list is almost-octogenarian Bob Lutz who retired from GM – but certainly not from business – last year.
